Reusing Oshibori

Biodegradable cotton towels, recyclable single-material plastic bags, and a recycling program for large volumes: this is what happens to our oshibori after use.

What an oshibori is made of

• The towel: 100% biodegradable cotton (80% bamboo and 20% cotton for the bamboo line). It can be disposed of with organic waste or recycled into fuel (see below).
• The bag: made of single-material polyethylene (PE), recyclable in the yellow bin, just like a water bottle. The natural-colored bag from the Bamboo line is also recyclable.
• Cardboard: corrugated cardboard, recyclable with paper and cardboard.

In your school, on a day-to-day basis

It’s simple: put the towel with organic waste or general waste, depending on your collection schedule; put the bag in the packaging recycling bin; and put the cardboard in with the other cardboard. After washing it at 30 °C, the towel becomes a plain, dry cotton towel again that you can reuse for cleaning.

A Second Life for Bulky Waste: Energy Recovery

For facilities that generate large quantities of used towels, we offer a recycling program. Once collected, the towels are converted into high-calorific-value solid recovered fuel (SRF), which is used primarily by the cement industry as a substitute for coal and petroleum products.

This treatment process recovers value from the material in a single operation: heat generation from the organic fraction and material recovery from the inorganic fraction. It is an alternative to landfilling, encouraged by European directives, the 2020 AGEC Act, and the 2015 Energy Transition for Green Growth Act.

Traceability

A certificate of full recycling in accordance with the HPC CSR standards is issued in your name for each batch processed. You can include it in your CSR report.

Terms and Conditions

• Minimum volume of one metric ton of used towels per collection.
• Service available in Europe.
• Pickup arrangements and costs are based on a quote, depending on the location and volume.

Made in France

Our oshibori are manufactured at our factory in France, in accordance with the ISO 22716 cosmetics standard, using biodegradable cotton towels and a dermatologically tested lotion. Short supply chain, full traceability.
